In the markets you can find the soul of the locals: this statement finds its most authentic expression in Palermo.
Our historical markets, a legacy of the Arab presence in Sicily, are the beating heart of the city. Entering and strolling through them will be like taking an ideal leap into a real “souk” with a North African atmosphere; a triumph of colors, smells, flavours and even ringing voices of the vendors.
The Palermo Street Food Tour is the sensory experience par excellence that will allow you, at the same time, to come into direct contact with the locals and learn more about the sicilian daily life.
We will stroll through the main markets, true realms of the famous street food, of which Palermo is one of the most important capitals in the world. You will have the opportunity to taste the famous panelle (chickpea fritters), arancine (rice balls), potato croquettes and much more according to your tastes and preferences.
The tour also includes a stop at an old pastry shop inside a convent where, in the distant past, the nuns prepared delicious sicilian sweets.
During the tour you will admire and learn about the monuments that we will meet along the way. At the end of the Palermo Street food Tour you will have satisfied both your intellectual curiosity and your palate.
Teatro Massimo – Quattro Canti (Four Corners) – Piazza Bellini – St. Catherine pastry shop – Ballarò market – Cathedral – Capo market – St. Augustine market – Via Roma – Vucciria market – Piazza San Domenico.
