In Sicily cooking is an art. The origins of Sicilian cuisine are very old and are closely linked to the historical events of the island and the many populations that have conquered and inhabited it. Over the centuries, local gastronomic traditions have been enriched as they have been handed down from generation to generation. Each population has made a new contribution, thanks to which our dishes have become richer, tastier and more delicious. Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans as well as Spaniards, at different times, imported new products to the island, improving crops and food processing techniques.
If we add to these purely historical aspects the position of the island in the centre of the Mediterranean, its mild and temperate climate all year round and the fertility of the soil, it is easy to understand why the taste of Sicilian products, from the land and the sea, is so unique.
Products are always fresh and of the highest quality. Wheat, olives, fish, meat, game, cheese, almonds and other delicious varieties of dried fruit, aromatic herbs, always present in our recipes (basil, parsley, oregano, rosemary, sage and many others), as well as vineyards from which sublime and world-famous wines are produced.

Last but not least, in 2010 Unesco declared the
Mediterranean diet   an intangible cultural heritage of humanity, recognising the authorship of Italy, Greece, Morocco, Cyprus, Croatia and Portugal.
The Mediterranean diet implies a set of skills, knowledge, rituals and traditions regarding crops, harvesting, fishing, conservation, processing, cooking and especially the sharing and consumption of food. Eating together is definitely a moment of social exchange and communication. All this emphasizes the values of hospitality, creativity and intercultural dialogue.

Cooking Class in Palermo

This experience will allow you to get in touch with the gastronomic culture of the island. You will meet a real professional Sicilian chef who will reveal the secrets and tricks to prepare delicious local dishes.  I have personally selected some of them, all professionals working in well-known places in Palermo where quality, kindness and friendliness are a top priority.

Before the actual cooking class, it will be great fun to go with the chef to the market to learn about the products, some of which will be bought by him and then used in the kitchen to cook together. You will contribute to the preparation of the dishes. This means that if you choose the option that includes lunch you will be cooking it yourself together with the chef!

The cooking lesson can be combined with a 2-hour tour of Palermo

For this tour there are several options. Contact me, I will be happy to propose personalised programs for you to spend fun, educational and unforgettable hours.

From a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 6/7 hours depending on the type of tour you choose.
